MISSION

Ujamaa Place provides holistic transformation for young African-American men experiencing inequity at the intersection of race and poverty. We help them achieve brotherhood, stability and personal success.

VISION

Empowered Black men who have changed their behavior through redefining their concepts of themselves, manhood, success and positive community values.

VALUES

Ujamaa Place is committed to the values of inclusion, self determination, cultural knowledge, accountability, equity and spirituality, as defined below.

CORE VALUES	THEORY OF TRANSFORMATION WORK MUST INCLUDE:
Inclusion	Supporting men in building and restoring family and community connections as essential parts of their success.
Self-Determination	Encouraging men to claim respect, equal rights, and equality of opportunity.
Cultural Knowledge	Becoming aware of and embodying Black ways of knowing and world views (cultural history, values, beliefs, and behaviors).
Accountability	Taking individual and collective accountability for one’s actions and impact.
Equity	Demanding fair and equitable societal and justice systems.
Spirituality	Acting out of compassion toward others and a mindful inner consciousness in the pursuit of a meaningful life purpose.
